Allpress Espresso
Allpress Espresso is the kind of cafe that you would expect to find in any suburb where you'd like to get a cup of espresso. But it is not the type of cafe where you would expect, nor would you find, a great cup of espresso. Allpress has the feel and indeed the espresso, you might have considered cutting edge about 10 years ago. Now Allpress seems old, establishment, and outdated. There is a roaster on view for those sampling the espresso inside the cafe, and it is decked out in pretty stylish fashion inside and has helpful friendly staff. The barista is capable and delivers well made coffee, however there is little that is remarkable about this place. Nothing stands out and says "take note of this". It is all pretty standardised, not quite as bad as a Starbucks, or Gloria Jeans, but not very far off it. There are a number of food items available, however none of them really stand out either. While roasted espresso is available in different types, again only the house blend is available in house. The beans available to take home are not cheap making any sampling a gamble not worth taking.
"Allpress Espresso rated first mention in the Foodies Guide to Sydney 2007 and was rated pretty highly in that publication. I was disappointed by Allpress. This outift is at the level of a Vittoria or Grinders espresso - made for the mass market and has nothing to reccomend it outside of the fact that it is drinkable. No challenge here, uninteresting"
